      Ranman,
I'm guessing you are correct about the date (I read the 12 as 17; but it would be a strange year that had 17 months) but that is the date of proof. The "proof date" is usually pretty close to the date of manufacture date; but not the same. Since it has a register number (35), it was likely proofed in Zella Mehlis, and probably also made in the area. The 6.5x52R cartridge case is virtually the same as the 25 WCF (AKA 25-35 WCF) but was loaded to a less powerful level. Yours was proofed for a 7.5-gram copper jacketed bullet (K.M.G.). In spite of the difference in load levels, these rifles are often reported to use American 25-35 WCF ammo without incident, but I have no experience to confirm this. Since your rifle is scoped, the point of impact of the American 117 grain bullet may be different than the German 7.5 gram one. You should check the POI to see if you can use it "as is" before trying to change it. In my opinion you have a nice rifle and will have a lot of fun with it. Good luck.

I believe that is a "house mark" (logo) rather than a proofmark, but I don't recognize it. It may have an H and a S in it. Maybe Peter or someone else will know what it is. Sorry.

                Hello

Above the red line in below image are part of an Reichsadler and a crown G. Why the rifle barrel has two crown G:s I do not know nor understand. Below the red line is some trademark, or so I believe. No luck identifying it, however. I could give suggestions but they would be nothing but mere suggestions. I, too, read H and S. I cannot say I know but possibly a trademark for whomever manufactured the firearm for Peterlongo.
